Kia

I just read that Kia died last night. Can someone who knows please tell me what happened because I have no idea, and I'd really like to know. Someone left an anonymous message in my journal yesterday, and I can't help wondering if it was her.

I know. I saw something on Brenda's journal and got this awful feeling, but I thought it must be someone else, but then there were more posts. Just. Don't know what to say, really.

She was a family friend. I know others online felt closer to Kia and had more in common, but she was with us for a month that summer 2 years ago and we all came to know her quite well - obviously not well enough. My heart goes out to her mum and all her many friends. I don't want to think of her in the past tense, which is why I'm holding out for more information. I can't really take it in. *hugs* to you, love.

And to you. I know what a good friend to Kia you were, and I know how much she appreciated that. xx This has upset me terribly.

She wasn't the one who left an anonymous message, she couldn't have been, she's been in the hospital for a while. For the rest, I'm not sure it is my place to give more details. Sorry.

What? Kia? As in [info]hjartad?

I'm very shocked. Can this be true? What is it with the proliferation of LJ deaths? I don't believe it!! She was my first betee, if that's a word. I mean, I betaed her first-ever fic which was atrocious and then she just kept going and got better and forged on with such pluck.

This can't be true? Didn't she come to the UK for an exchange year??

Yes, it's terribly shocking. I don't know exactly what happened, but there is a post here on [info]magicalmolly's lj which explains a little bit. She was one of the first people I knew on LJ - after you, of course! We bonded over comedy and music and stuff, and for a while we used to spend hours being silly into the small hours on IM. Yes, she was over here for a year, and I met her once, at Collectormania in Milton Keynes. She was very sweet, and ridiculously shy, and very frustrating because she took silly things so much to heart and refused to recognise acknowledge her own considerable intelligence and talent. It's very sad.
